Re-imagining a Corporate Guesthouse at Dhrangadhra, Gujarat: Set within a large industrial campus, this project required to reappropriate a century-old industrial transit facility into a contemporary corporate guesthouse. With the building’s structural integrity certified sound, interventions were kept precise. Internal layouts were remodeled to accommodate modern en-suite rooms, a lounge, dining spaces, and a kitchen. The original corridors were extended, creating simultaneously a welcoming arrival foyer and establishing a seamless relationship with the surrounding landscape. The existing trees provided vital clues for landscape planning. A dynamic Pink Dhrangadhra stone screen wall was introduced to anchor the entrance and define the arrival experience. Completed in 2008, this project led to further exploration in how existing built environments can be re-appropriated in a meaningful manner- the idea of ‘Why Not Reuse?’
