The Project: Located in an industrial park on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, this production unit consists of a large garment manufacturing facility, design and sampling studio, administrative offices and supporting facilities. Though the space planning is governed by the economics of the project, the architectural design aimed at creating a people and environment centric workplace. Approach: The primary design mandate was to create a comfortable, healthy and stimulating indoor environment, integrated with well developed outdoor spaces that instill a sense of dignity and pride amongst all the occupants. For a balanced environmental, social and economic performance, project is designed with following features: - Material and construction innovation by a systemic integration of local materials and advanced technologies such as large span self-supporting roof, recycled wood floor, fabric structures. - Each floor is designed to maximize the natural light and ventilation, augmented with mechanical systems to ensure healthy indoor air quality. - Support facilities include amenities like a covered dining area to accommodate 150 people, a crèche, prayer room, first-aid and sick room. - Adequate toilets for each floor and centralized water cooler and U.V. filtration systems - No rainwater is discharged from the premises to the surrounding as runoff water.
