The Residence at 69 Asopalav serves as a micro real estate case study for the REVA initiative of Hetu Constructions, challenging the traditional "demolish and rebuild" cycle. Through this project, we examined idea of 'Why not Reuse' for a 25 years old existing bungalow and how it can be re-designed to bring the modern comforts for contemporary living. Embodied in the idea of REVA are resilience, energy efficiency, water management and elegant aesthetics. While respecting the architectural language of the existing house and its environment, strategic extensions and internal spatial relationships were carefully re-calibrated. By opening up the previously compartmentalized rooms, the design creates a seamless, fluid experience that prioritizes light and ventilation. The internal material palette - natural stone flooring, aluminium windows, wooden furniture, crisp white walls, vibrant washrooms, water saving plumbing fittings and fixtures, and energy efficient electrical systems - lends itself to a soft visual and tactile feel that is simultaneously mindful.
